What is 3D printing?
3D printing is a form of additive manufacturing technology where a three dimensional object is created by laying down successive layers of material. 3D printers are generally faster, more affordable and easier to use than other additive manufacturing technologies. 3D printing offers product developers the ability to print parts and assemblies made of several materials with different mechanical and physical properties in a single build process. It is one of the most useful routes to reducing time to market.
What is Whale 3D’s capability in 3D printing?
Whale3D’s suite of machines includes the state of the art digital multi-material 3D dimensional Printing System with Polyjet matrix and latest FDM machines, used to produce 100% accurate, durable 3D models suitable for prototype testing and design clarification.
Our ultra thin layer high resolution 3D printing systems produce a smooth quality finish and outstandingly accurate models. This allows us to produce closer than ever simulation of end products even combining multiple materials in the one build.
What materials can you print in?
We use a wide range of photopolymer digital materials. This allows us to deliver prototypes in a wide variety of material properties, such as ABS/Polypropylene, Rigid, Rubber like and transparent/waterproof materials. We offer a shore scale of 40 -95 allowing us print rigid to flexible materials.

How can I send my data?
The best way of sending your data is to upload your file via the “upload” button on our website. The input formats are STL*, OBJDF, SLC, IGES, STEP and generic CAD files – however STL is the optimal format to facilitate speed of turnaround.
What compressed files do we accept or is this no longer valid for this website?
We continue to accept compressed files like zip, tar etc. as long as it meets our maximum size restriction of 40MB.
What is the size limit of data files that we can upload?

How quickly can I have my part(s)?
Generally from receipt of usable data, we have the capacity to turn parts around in 24 – 72 hours subject to capacity and and prior agreement.
How can I have my parts finished?
Where accuracy and surface finishes are key, the Polyjet 3D printing is the answer. The Connex printers used by Whale are completely unique in their abilities to print parts and assemblies made of multiple model materials, with different mechanical and physical properties. The end result is a smooth surface finish with fine details, providing the final product look and feel.
What colours can I have my parts in?
Your prototype can either be supplied in its raw state, i.e. white or we can produce it with a permanent surface colouring from a standard range of colours e.g. including ???
